God Is Great And I’m Not (French) 2001
Audrey Tautou stars as a flighty young woman on a spiritual quest to discover the religion that’s right for her. When she becomes romantically involved with a Jewish man, she turns her attention to Judaism. Despite his attempt to convince her there’s no need to convert as proof of her love since neither he nor his family are religious, she learns as much as possible about Judaism and puts her new knowledge into practice with comical results.
This is Tautou prior to her title role in the well-known Amélie. If you like the lighthearted type of humor in that film (which I do occasionally), you will like this one as well. It’s a good introduction to her films.
100 min. Unrated.
